Craft 5.10 Released

We’re excited to announce that Craft 5.10 is here! This release features an improved element deletion workflow, and new development features.

Element Deletion Blockers

When deleting elements in the control panel, users may now be presented with a modal window showing various blockers that need to be acted on before going through with the deletion.

For example, if the element is related to any other entries, those entries will be displayed, with options to replace the relations with a different element, or remove them.

Once the blockers have been resolved, the user can proceed with the deletion.

Our CKEditor plugin has also been updated to register a deletion blocker for any elements that are referenced within CKEditor fields, and Craft Commerce 5.7 will register deletion blockers for users with existing orders or subscriptions.

Craft 5.10 is packed with smaller improvements across the system. A few highlights:

Authoring

• Nicer preview text for collapsed Matrix blocks. (#18484)
• “Paste above” actions in Matrix and Addresses fields. (#17406)
• Entry post dates are no longer automatically set until the entry is first saved as enabled. (#18642)
• “Save as a new draft” actions. (#18722)
• Element editor slideouts now automatically refresh themselves when the same element is edited in another tab. (#18625)
• Time Zone user preference. (#8518)
• Automatic asset alt text population, for images uploaded with alt text embedded in their metadata. (#18744)

Administration & Development

• It’s now possible to replace the custom field used for existing field layout elements. (#18814)
• Twig 3.24 adds support for null-safe operators.
• New heading() and h1()…h6() Twig functions. (#18524)
• Support for element hard deletion via GraphQL. (#18511)
• Opt-in support for origin verification on requests (a more modern alternative to CSRF protection). (#18641)
