We’re excited to announce that Craft 3.6 has been released!
Craft 3.6 brings a slew of accessibility, usability, and development experience improvements. Let’s take a look at a few of the highlights.
Responsive Live Preview Viewports
Craft Pro adds the ability to preview your entries in phone and tablet-sized viewports, so you can get a sense for how they’ll look on the go.
Improved Entry Creation Workflow
When new entries are created, they now begin life as “unpublished drafts”. They’ll stay that way until the author is ready to publish (or delete) them.
User Impersonation URLs
Admins can now impersonate other users without losing their own session, thanks to the new “Copy impersonation URL” action. When activated, the admin will be presented with a URL which they can copy to their clipboard, and paste into a new private/incognito browser window.
Purchasing on Production
Commercial plugins are now assigned trial license keys automatically when installed, just like Craft CMS. When those license keys are pushed up to the production environment, admins will have the ability to purchase them right from there, even if allowAdminChanges is disabled.
PHP 8
Craft 3.6 and all its dependencies fully support PHP 8. We’ve also increased Craft’s minimum PHP version requirement to 7.2.5.
Composer 2
Composer 2 is now bundled with Craft, drastically reducing the time it takes to install/uninstall plugins, and perform updates.
There’s more! Read the release notes for a full list of what’s new. And be sure to check out the upgrade guide for a list of things to be aware of as you’re updating your sites.
We hope you enjoy it!
