Craft 4 and Craft Cloud Announced at Dot All 2019

Dot All 2019 Signage

Dot All 2019 is a wrap! This year’s event took place at the Phi Center in the middle of beautiful Old Montréal. It featured 18 sessions, three workshops, a panel on the future of web development, a lunch & learn event, and an afterparty overlooking the city from the Perché rooftop bar.

All the sessions were recorded, so we’ll get them up on Vimeo just as soon as we have them. In the meantime you can explore the photo collection on Dropbox, listen to the devMode.fm recap podcast recorded right in Montréal, or read the takeaway posts from Matt Gray, Ben Croker, Jamie Jenkins, or Andrew Armitage.

Craft 4 and Craft Cloud Announced

During the opening keynote, Craft founder and CEO Brandon Kelly announced that work on Craft 4 is starting to ramp up. Craft 4 is going to focus on features related to accessibility, collaboration, content modeling, and author experience, including:

  • Full keyboard control
  • Better mobile support
  • High contrast mode and dark mode
  • Multi-author editing
  • Conditional fields
  • New UI elements in field layouts
  • Nestable Matrix fields
  • Custom element index views

Brandon also announced that we’re working on a new service called Craft Cloud, which will provide API-only Craft installations without all the DevOps. This is the next big step in our effort to make Craft a great choice for people looking for a headless CMS, following headless content previewing in Craft 3.2 and the new GraphQL API and Headless Mode in Craft 3.3. We hope to launch it sometime next year. You can sign up for updates over at craft.cloud.
