Publishing Content to Apple News
If your site includes a news section, a blog, or any other type of regularly updated content, you should consider publishing it on Apple News, the publishing platform and personalized news reading app introduced in iOS 9.
To publish content on Apple News, you’ll need to sign up for News Publisher and create a channel. Channels in News Publisher represent entire publications.
In the channel creation process, you will be asked how you want to publish your content: with Apple News Format, or with RSS.
Publishing with Apple News Format #
Apple News Format is a proprietary format which defines your article as a series of semantic “components” such as headings, body text, pull quotes, images, videos, and others. Its chief advantage is that it gives you control over the look and feel of each individual component, so it can be used to create gorgeous articles that are on-brand with the publication. This is usually the recommended choice, as it is the only way to take full advantage of all the features Apple News has to offer.
To use Apple News Format, you’ll need the Publish to Apple News plugin, which provides an integration for Apple News and Craft.

Publishing with RSS #
If you just want to get your content into Apple News quickly and effortlessly and don’t care about any of the Apple News Format-exclusive features, you can do that by setting up a valid RSS or Atom feed, and pointing your Apple News channel to that. This is the “set it and forget it” approach—content published by the RSS feed will automatically be pulled into Apple News on a regular basis and delivered to your subscribers.
